Make Them Go "Wow!" with Nails for All Seasons

By

Make your nails stand out

Megan Fox has been seen with nails like these. A few other high profile celebrities have sported this new look, too. I am talking about the new craze of dual-colored nails; and not just any color. Totally contrasting colors that in an older time did not fit together at all or would even get you weird looks (remember the neons and gothic blacks and navy blues of our day?). Fast-forward to 2011 and this mismatch of colors is the go-to look for anyone from Hollywood to Bollywood. It makes sense that these nails would stand out; they're trendy for a reason: that contrasting pop of color draws the eye to the hands. And in that instant that a person glances at your nails, they can gauge at what level of fashionista you are. The best part about this trend is that you really can't go wrong. All you need is to trust your gut and go with what looks good on you. Just match the colors you normally go for according to your skin tone and then pick a totally contrasting color. Put the two side by side and you will be able to tell if these two are a good match. Simple as that. It's exciting to see what colors go together and it's a good test to see how creative you are! I took about five minutes to match these colors. Here are my picks for today:

A black and pink affair

I already owned the Midnight in NY shade #670 so I wanted to get something that would contrast yet complement that color. Scanning the rack for a suitable shade, this shocking pink caught my eye in an instant. I knew this would be the one, but to be sure I lined it up side by side with my other color and true enough, they were a match made in nail heaven.

Here are some other colors that match well. I recommend Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure for those of you who are in a rush because it includes your base and top coat, saving you much needed time! I love this brand. It's a life saver; I can do my nails in a jiffy with this nail polish.

Other colors you might like:

Sally Hansens's Complete Salon Manicure shade in Black Platinum #340 goes perfectly with Yellow Kitty #420. You can paint majority of the nails in the darker shade and then choose one nail from each hand to be the "stand-out" nail as I did in my picture. The two nails will be painted with the lighter shade. Alternatively, you can alternate the colors between each nail. So you can start with the darker shade and then switch with the lighter one until all fingers are complete. Then go out and show them off!

OPI is like the Louis Vuitton of nail lacquer! There are so many darling shades to choose from, but my fave picks that complement each other are Honk If You Love OPI and Gargantuan Green Grape because they are from different sides of the spectrum as far as colors go. These two couldn't be more far apart in the color world but look at how beautifully they combine! Pair these two shades up for a good ol' night on the town and don't be surprised if people stare at your nails or even ask you what shades they are...look who's become a celebrity now!
